Courtney Knox
Chief Administrative Officer
Courtney Knox is the Chief Administrative Officer of the Center for Community Progress. With nearly two decades of experience in equitable neighborhood revitalization, Knox deeply understands the root causes of vacancy and abandonment and the equitable solutions that can create safe, healthy, resilient, and inclusive neighborhoods.
Knox has been with Community Progress since the organization’s founding in 2010. Since then, she has served in many capacities across the organization, including as Associate Director of Michigan Initiatives, Interim Communications Director, Interim President and CEO, and, most recently, Vice President of Education, Leadership, and Engagement. During her time, Knox created and stewarded dozens of new initiatives reaching tens of thousands of public sector, private sector, civic, and community leaders. These dynamic, informative, and inclusive leadership and educational opportunities included the flagship Reclaiming Vacant Properties Conference, Vacant Property Leadership Institute, the Community Revitalization Fellowship, and more.
In her current role as Chief Administrative Officer, she directs the organization’s administrative, finance, communications, and development teams to ensure successful delivery of Community Progress’ programming.
Knox began her career as a staff accountant specializing in governmental accounting. This work led her to supervise the day-to-day accounting operations, strategy development, and financial management of the Genesee County Land Bank Authority and Genesee Institute. This work fostered her passion for helping create equitable communities that provide opportunities for all, and empowering local governments to break the cycle of vacancy and abandonment.
Knox earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Michigan State University. She is based in Michigan.
