Land banks have unique abilities to address brownfield properties, or properties where the presence or likely presence of hazardous substances or pollutants makes redevelopment challenging and costly. In Ohio, land banks are eligible to serve as lead applicants to the state’s Brownfield Remediation Program. This eligibility enables Ohio land banks to more easily access funding for vital yet costly brownfields work.

This webinar will feature the Greater Ohio Policy Center and the Executive Director of the Mahoning County Land Bank and cover Ohio’s journey and successes leveraging land banks in brownfield revitalization. Participants will learn about the role land banks can play in remediation and reuse, how to successfully procure and deploy brownfields funding, and the positive community impact land banks have when they can engage in this work.

Join this webinar to:

  • Learn the history of Ohio’s Brownfield Remediation Program, including strategies that yielded policy wins and future advocacy priorities in Ohio
  • Hear key takeaways from Ohio’s statewide approach to engaging land banks in the redevelopment of brownfield properties
  • Discover practical strategies land banks in other states can use to procure and deploy brownfields funding and how Ohio communities have leveraged these funds

Speakers:

  • Nora Daly – Associate Director of Technical Assistance, Center for Community Progress
  • Aaron Clapper – Director of Outreach and Projects, Greater Ohio Policy Center
  • Debora Flora – Executive Director, Mahoning County Land Bank
