#LotsofThanks: Recognizing revitalization champions!
November 17, 2015
Last February, we decided to run a Valentine’s Day campaign we called #LoveThatLot, asking you to use the hashtag to share photos of formerly vacant lots that have been transformed into “something downright lovable.”
The response was amazing! People shared photos of revitalized vacant spaces from all across the country, and across the world. These were lots that had been reimagined as pop-up parks, urban gardens, public art and so much more.
We know, however, that these transformations don’t just happen on their own. They happen because of the dedicated work of people and organizations that are committed to making their community a better place.
Therefore, this Thanksgiving, we wanted to do something a little different. Instead of showing your love for revitalized lots, let’s give thanks for the amazing individuals and organizations working on them!
Use #LotsofThanks on Twitter and Facebook to honor an individual or organization that you think has been a real champion in the fight against vacancy and abandonment, either in your community or across the county.
Show your appreciation for anyone doing good work to help revitalize vacant properties in any way. And feel free to include a picture of them or their work!
After Thanksgiving, we’ll share some of our favorite #LotsofThanks social posts on our blog. Make sure to post by 5pm on November 30th in order to be considered for the blog post.
All of us at Community Progress are thankful for the opportunity to work with people like you who are committed to our vision of an America where all families are able to live on stable, safe, vibrant blocks.
Happy Thanksgiving!
