Tasha Hall-Garrison

Tasha Hall-Garrison is the Associate Director of Engagement for the Education, Leadership, and Engagement team at the Center for Community Progress. With nearly a decade of experience in municipal government, Hall-Garrison helps communities tackle vacant property challenges through her focus quantifying the connectivity between community desires and economic growth.

In her previous role as the Community Development Administrator for the City of College Park, Georgia, she led the transformation of the Department of Code Compliance by implementing community outreach and engagement efforts and creating interdepartmental communication channels. Hall-Garrison is a passionate advocate of leveraging community development to help communities achieve attainable housing, urban agriculture, and economic mobility, creatively using every opportunity to strengthen local business development. During her time with the City, she was instrumental in attracting the Atlanta Hawks’ G League Team to College Park, leading to the development of the Arena @ Gateway Center.  

Hall-Garrison also secured over $1.6 million in federal grant assistance to address brownfield properties in College Park. One notable project was her role in developing the city’s first nature preserve at the headwaters of the Flint River—one of only 40 rivers in the US that flows unimpeded for over 200 miles. To return purpose to the underutilized greenspace, Hall-Garrison facilitated a relationship between Finding the Flint, MARTA, the Atlanta Regional Commission, and the City of College Park; and secured public and private funding for river restoration. The Flint Headwaters Nature Preserve is on its way to being over 7 acres of habitat and recreation space.

When she is not serving her community, she can be found with her daughter Harmony and dog Max at local farmer’s markets, record stores, and supporting small businesses. She is a graduate of Savannah State University.
