Kira Carney is the Program Officer for the Education, Leadership, and Engagement (ELE) team at the Center for Community Progress. With a background in nonprofit and social impact programming, Carney works closely with experts to support educational events and initiates that help community tackle vacancy challenges.

Carney brings her extensive experience in volunteer engagement and program management to help the ELE team provide resources to communities addressing vacant and abandoned properties while prioritizing racial and economic justice. She executes virtual and in-person educational events; coordinates program logistics; and builds relationships with speakers, vendors, and attendees. Carney is passionate about building community around shared advocacy. She committed to supporting communities in taking collective action to improve their built and natural environments.

Carney holds a bachelor’s degree in Earth Science from James Madison University and a Master’s in Environmental Studies from Antioch University New England. She is based in Downingtown, PA.
