Monroe County Vacant and Abandoned Property Task Force

Monroe County Vacant and Abandoned Property Task Force engages a network of local government and community leaders and partners to work collaboratively to tackle the negative impacts of vacant, abandoned, and tax-delinquent properties and develop strategies to return them to productive use. The group is also responsible for the content available in the Monroe County Vacant Property Resource Hub, an online tool with resources divided into categories for homeowners, neighbors, buyers/sellers, and individual municipalities.

Local governments seeking to develop a plan for addressing vacant properties in their own cities and communities may benefit from learning from other collaborations and recognize both the upfront coordination costs and the long-term benefits from strong partnerships.
