Chicago’s Vacant Lots Near Transit: An ETOD Deep Dive

In Elevated Chicago’s report, a case study of two areas in Chicago near transit hubs discuss the impact of vacant lots as well as the potential they hold for the area. Realized through the support of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in partnership with the Institute of Housing Studies at DePaul University and Rudd Resources, the report provides video walk throughs of the neighborhood, community engagement sessions along with data visualization of private vs. public owned vacant lots. The case study offers insightful background into the realities of vacant lots in Chicago’s South and Westside while also showing the possibilities of working within communities to reimagine these lots to meet diverse needs and wants.
