New Community Development Website Offers Free Education on Systemic Vacancy & Revitalization

New communityprogress.org offers free education, assistance resources, and more for local leaders and revitalization non-profits
WASHINGTON, D.C. – February 12, 2021 — Today, the Center for Community Progress (Community Progress) announced the launch of a new website, communityprogress.org, offering online learning centers, industry events, and a new blog for educating leaders, law makers, and residents focused on addressing systemic vacancy.
“From COVID-19 to today’s rapidly changing political environment, revitalization leaders have shared their growing need for information on how tools like land banks and code enforcement can help them weather these rapid changes,” said Dr. Akilah Watkins, President and CEO of Community Progress.
“Our growing digital tools are a direct response to the needs we are hearing from these partners across the country and on the ground. The new communityprogress.org will help us elevate our work and the, stories and impact happening every day in community development.”
Community Progress Online Learning Centers Break Down Land Banking, COVID-19 and other Critical Revitalization Topics
The new mobile-friendly communityprogress.org, features updates to some of the most popular resources including the Land Bank Information Headquarters and Cornerstone Webinars. In addition, with the new site the Center is launching a series of Online Learning Centers that answer Frequently Asked Questions on revitalization, including:
- How many U.S. Land Banks exist?
- How can communities leverage vacant land to create more useful spaces?
- What impact can a vacant property have on home values?
- And more.

New Industry Events Calendar Opens to Community Development Agencies and Non-Profits
In addition to is new features, the site features an update to its popular Publications Center and a new tool for partners who would like to the Center to consider sharing their events with its growing national audience.
