Since 2007, thousands of urban, suburban, and rural leaders have gathered to make the Reclaiming Vacant Properties Conference (RVP), one of the most successful national conferences in community development. From nonprofits and government to business and resident-led efforts, concerned leaders committed to strengthening their communities from diverse disciplines, gather to answer one central question: How can we effect real, on the ground change? What can we do to strengthen our communities today?

The 2022 Reclaiming Vacant Properties Conference will bring together leaders under the theme Responding to Crisis: Building an Equitable and Resilient Future. As communities face the threats of COVID-19 a public health, housing, and economic crisis and higher frequency of extreme weather events, there is an urgent need to address the negative impacts of vacant, abandoned, and deteriorated properties, centering those BIPOC communities that are disproportionally impacted by these multiple crises. RVP is an impactful, inspiring event that showcases cutting-edge policies and practices in the field to revitalize vacant, abandoned, and deteriorated properties as assets for residents, and 2022 will focus on positioning community leaders to radically imagine and create a future that centers equitable development and community resiliency.
