Senate Bill 394 (Passed – 2016 Public Act 14) – Amends state law to require smaller municipalities (by population) to do rental inspections under Michigan Housing Law. Signed into law by Governor Snyder on Feb. 16, 2016.

House Bill 4984 (Pending, House Committee on Tax Policy) – Would require that delinquent tax payments on properties subject to land banks’ 5/50 tax collection be enforced through the general property tax foreclosure process. Rep. Tom Barrett (R, House District 71) introduced HB4984 on Oct. 13, 2015. The House Committee on Tax Policy heard testimony in support of HB4984 on Feb. 24, 2016.

House Bill 5375 (Pending, House Committee on Local Government) – Would prohibit the transfer of tax-foreclosed property to a land bank before a public auction is held. Rep. Lee Chatfield (R, House District 107) introduced HB5375 on Feb. 16, 2016.
